Dhiraagu recently introduced this service to those who want to protect the kids from bad stuffs on the net.

They says "Working as a shield blocking access to websites deemed unsuitable for children, Parental Control Service is available for all Broadband ADSL Home users, and is highly recommended for customers whose children use the Internet at home."

HOW to Obtain this service
1.Get application form for this service
2.Go to Dhiraagu Customer Front office and submit completed form
3.Done
4.Charges: setup charge : RF 100 / Monthly fee: RF 25 (added to bill)
5.Free with no setup charges or monthly fee from 17th May to 30th June [introductory offer]

ADVANTAGES of this service:
• They says that this Parental Control service is a centrally hosted URL filtering service developed with the industry leader.
• Blocks inappropriate listed sites
• Can build a child with good manners ( obiviously when they get to see bad stuffs they get bad)
• As a special introductory offer, this service is free for 1 month
• gives parents the confidence to let their children explore new horizons
• Low setup charges and monthly fee
• Occupies less memory capacity so Pc is faster compared to URL blocking softwares etc...

DISADVANTAGES of this service:
• URL filtering can make the internet slower
• By using a proxy, the kids can access the blocked sites. [because its a URL filtering]
• Have to pay setup charges and monthly fee
• Not very effective (the kids have their friends who are suppliers)
• Free parental control softwares are more effective (like kaspersky)
• There are softwares that can URL filter and block inappropriate sites and these can unblock a site at the entering of a password
• Cant unblock or difficult procedures might have to be carried out.
• Cant block 100%. Needs a parent near them to be 100% etc...

Its up to Dhiraagu ADSL customers to choose whether or not to put this service. In anyways its a + (plus) on the services list of Dhiraagu. They really are trying to improve their services. Good luck to Dhiraagu!
